Forests in Danger!

Amazon Rainforest
The Amazon contains millions of species and the diversity of the region is staggering, there are over 40,000 plant species, 3,000 freshwater species, and 20% of the world's oxygen is produced here.
Boreal Forest
The Boreal Forest stores large quantities of carbon and provides a shield against global warming and critical habitat for countless species of birds, fish and wildlife. Canada’s 396.9 million hectares of forest, other wooded land and other land with tree cover account for about 10% of the world’s forest cover. In 2010, an estimated 45,000 hectares were deforested in Canada.
Indonesian Forest
Today just under half of Indonesia is forested, representing a significant decline in its original forest cover
African Forest
According to the FAO, Africa lost the highest percentage of rain forests during the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s of any biogeographical realm. Over the past decade, these forests have been threatened by masses of refugees fleeing rebel forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the movement of local militias.
